My Love for Airports and Quest to Explore Every Major Airport in the US
Airports hold a special place in my heart. From the bustling terminals to the excitement of departure gates, each airport visit is an adventure waiting to unfold. Over the years, I've developed a deep appreciation for these hubs of connectivity and exploration. My passion for airports has led me to set a unique goal: to depart, arrive, or connect in every major airport across the United States.
Airports are more than just transportation hubs; they are gateways to new experiences, cultures, and adventures. Stepping into an airport evokes a sense of anticipation and possibility. The buzz of activity, the diverse array of people, and the myriad destinations displayed on departure boards create an atmosphere of excitement.
One of the aspects I love most about airports is the feeling of being on the cusp of something exciting. Whether it's boarding a plane to a far-flung destination or welcoming loved ones home, airports are where dreams take flight and reunions become reality. The blend of emotions, from nervous anticipation to sheer joy, makes every airport visit a memorable experience.
My goal to depart, arrive, or connect in every major airport in the US is driven by a desire for exploration and discovery. Each airport has its own unique charm and amenities, from innovative lounges to art installations that showcase local culture.
From iconic hubs like JFK International Airport in New York to the modern facilities of San Francisco International Airport, each airport offers a glimpse into the region it serves. Each of them have their own personality, some are more like a friend welcoming you with open arms, while others are the friend that can’t slow down enough to make you not feel anxious.
I have not completed my quest, but so far my favorite airport is hands down, Minneapolis - Saint Paul International Airport. The layout is great, even if you have a tight connect, it is never a problem for us to get from one gate to another. It is never crowded and the people are so friendly. If you have a long layover, I find it the best for walking. I also enjoy the part of the airport that is like a mall.
Other airports that I have found to be in my top five are Baltimore, San Francisco, Charlotte, and Detroit. Among the ones I have like the least are San Diego, Miami, Orlando, and Atlanta. Atlanta is kind of in a special category. We often connect in Atlanta and I find the domestic terminals to be overcrowded and chaotic, but the international terminal is a whole different world and quite pleasant.
